Department of Political Science and International StudiesWelcome to the Web page for SUNY Brockport's exciting Department of Political Science and International Studies! Our department is unique in that it combines two majors: political sciencewith it's long and distinguished legacy at SUNY Brockportand international studies, one of the most rapidly growing new majors in the SUNY system. Brockport political science graduates are found in a wide range of outstanding careerslaw, business and commerce, politics, trade associations and professional societies, and a host of other fields. International studies graduates typically enter a broad range of professions associated with international affairs, including international trade, foreign policy and diplomacy. Both programs offer solid preparation for teaching careers at all levels. We encourage our students to match academic course work
with training and experiences that will position them for multiple options
in the job market. Such experiences include study abroad programs to
perfect foreign language facilities and internships at the local,
regional, national and international level. As SUNY's "Jewel in the
Crown" in overseas programs, we offer our students a wide range of overseas
study possibilities. You may also study in Washington, DC, through our
Internship Programthe premier Washington, DC-based program
of its type. Our Washington Semester students gain professional experience
in the US Congress, Supreme Court, Attorney General's Office, State
Department and other government agencies. Many go from there into full-time
employment or on to graduate school. One of our recent Supreme Court
interns won a full tuition and living stipend scholarship for her PhD
program at the University of Oklahoma. Contact InformationDepartment of Political science and mstickle@brockport.edu |
