Brockport Ranked in Top 25% of America’s Best Public Colleges and Universities

Buffalo Business First Study ranks Brockport No. 114 out of 499 four-year public institutions

BROCKPORT, NY—The College at Brockport, State University of New York, has been recognized as one of the top public colleges and universities in the country in a new study.

Buffalo Business First, a weekly newspaper that covers the Buffalo, NY business community, issued a national report April 4 that examined 499 four-year public institutions across the United States and ranked them based on 22 indicators of academic excellence, affordability, diversity and economic strength. Brockport was ranked No. 114.

“It’s gratifying to continue to see external organizations recognize the outstanding value The College at Brockport offers our students,” said Brockport President Heidi Macpherson, PhD. “Our talented and dedicated faculty and staff work tirelessly each day to make Brockport a great place for our students to learn. We’re grateful to them, and to Buffalo Business First, for this recognition.”

The newspaper’s formula aimed to determine the colleges and universities that offer the best educational experiences to their students. It rewards schools with highly selective admissions processes, strong retention and graduation rates, impressive earnings by alumni, generous resources, affordable tuition and housing costs, diverse faculties and student bodies, and economically robust communities.

The University of Michigan is ranked No. 1 in this year’s rankings. The University of North Carolina, University of California-Berkeley, University of Virginia, and University of California-Los Angeles comprise the rest of the top five.
