The guests, led by Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Zhao Feng, came to reiterate their strong support for the activation of our partnership agreement, signed by the two parties in 2016.
Joined by Deputy Principal of the Fundamental Education College, Mr. Chen Honghua, and the Deputy Principal of the Business Management College, Ms. Qi Ruishuang, Vice President Zhao expressed his wish to strengthen and further deepen the relationship between the College at Brockport and the Beijing Polytechnic. In her welcome address to the honored guests from China, President Heidi Macpherson emphasized her personal and unwavering support for campus internationalization, and expressed her desire to see the partnership with the Beijing Polytechnic soar in the coming years.
The College at Brockport and Beijing Polytechnic signed a Memorandum of Understanding for strategic partnership and student, faculty and staff exchanges in 2016, as part of the Beijing Polytechnic’s international expansion in preparation for the first cohort of students of the “7 Year Program”—an educational initiative fully supported by the Beijing Municipal Government—to spend two years at Brockport in order to complete their undergraduate studies beginning in 2020.
The Chinese delegation met separately with Provost James Jaynes, with Dean Joy Bhadury and international faculty members in the School of Business and Management, with Dean Tom Hernandez and Dr. Janka Szilagyi from the School of Education, Health and Human Sciences, with Dean Jose Maliekal of the School of Arts and Sciences, and with Senior International Officer, Dr. George T. Sipos, to explore the best ways to initiate the first exchanges programs.
Founded in 1958, the Beijing Polytechnic is one of the top universities among the over 2,800 institutions of higher education in China, and the only public vocational university fully-supported by the Beijing Municipal Commission of Education. Its mission is to cultivate high-skilled young talent for the city’s modern manufacturing, high-tech industry and modern service industry.
