Athletic Training Accreditation
The undergraduate Athletic Training program at SUNY Brockport is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). The program is currently applying to the CAATE for a change in level of degree. SUNY Brockport is no longer accepting students into the undergraduate athletic training program. The last undergraduate cohort is expected to graduate in May 2022.

Athletic Training is one of the fastest growing and most exciting fields in health care.
You'll learn how to evaluate and diagnose athletic injuries and then design and implement treatments and rehabilitation protocols. The program also includes training in health care administration and professional development and well-being.

Curriculum
Our curriculum includes core pre-requisites and professional athletic training courses covering topics such as Critical Examination and Diagnosis, Therapeutic Interventions, Evidence Based Practice, Strength and Conditioning and more.
The AT Strategic Alliance has established that the minimum professional degree required to pursue this field will soon be a master’s. We recommend that our undergraduate students major in exercise science or kinesiology in order to prepare for a graduate program in athletic training.

Admission Requirements
Our undergraduate students are encouraged to pursue and a bachelor's degree in exercise science or kinesiology in order to meet the requirements to pursue a master's degree in athletic training.
Pending approval from SUNY and the State Education Department, Brockport plans to transition from a bachelor's degree in athletic training to a master's degree in athletic training.
