  • Warren C. Bledsoe Award for literary achievement for the book “Physical Education & Sport for Individuals with Visual Impairment or Deafblindness: Foundations of Instruction” (2016).
  • Inducted as an International Federation of Adapted Physical Activity Fellow in Natanya, Israel (2015).


  • Received the IMPACT Award from Oregon State University for the Impact of my work with children with visual impairments (2017).
  • Received the R. Tait McKenzie Award from The Society for Health and Physical Education (SHAPE America) for work with Camp Abilities and the community (2017).
  • Received the Points of Light Award from the US Government for Volunteerism (Designated by George H.W. Bush) (2017).
  • Received the Distinguished Alumni Award from West Chester University of Pennsylvania (2014).
  • Inducted into the Hall of Fame from East High School in West Chester (PA. 2013).
  • Received the Access Award from the American Foundation of the Blind for starting Camp Abilities (2012).

Lauren Lieberman came to The College at Brockport in 1995. She is a sign language specialist, and her interests include: hiking, camping, canoeing, mountain biking, basketball, and tennis.
