Field Training Excersise
Every fall semester the College At Brockport ROTC program will conduct a Field Training Exercise (FTX) at a military installation to train Cadets, hone leadership skills and build esprit de corps. The program travels to military installations such as Fort Drum, New York and Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania where Cadets will have the opportunity to lead their peers through a Field Leaders Reaction Course, test their confidence and fear of heights on the Confidence Course / Rappel Wall, navigate through the woods during Land Navigation, and conduct squad and platoon level missions in mock villages and towns. The Fall Leadership training exercises is the first time Cadets are put to the test in defining their leadership skills, motivation, and mental agility.
Joint Field Training Excersise
Every spring semester the College At Brockport will conduct a Joint Field Training Exercise (JFTX) with several other schools in the region. The JFTX resembles the fall version of the FTX, but adds the leadership challenge for senior Cadets to work outside their comfort zone by working with other senior Cadets from schools in the region to plan the training event. The JFTX is the capstone training event for junior Cadets who will attend the Advanced Course over the summer at Fort Knox, Kentucky.
