A minor in French will help you connect with the 200 million people on the earth who speak French! You will learn about their language, customs, plays, books, movies, and food!
We'll take you on trips to Montreal and New York and help you study in any of the 33 countries where French is an official language.

Gain a tangible skill while studying fascinating cultures. In addition to grammar, literature and cinema, we teach classes as diverse as "Business in the Francophone World" and "French Rock & Hip-Hop."

We recommend submitting first-year applications in October or early November. We decide your admission once you complete your application.

Learn Outside the Classroom
We take students on faculty-led trips every year. We expose you to just a fraction of the opportunities for travel, adventure and employment that await a French major.
You will have the opportunity to work with the Francophone population in Rochester in our service learning program.

Many French students go on to work with the government, with overseas aid agencies, as teachers in America and abroad, in the tourism industry and in international business.
