Study Abroad Students Volunteer at Camp Abilities Ghana

Students currently studying abroad at the University of Ghana volunteered at the first Camp Abilities in Ghana alongside Director and Distinguished Service Professor, Dr. Lauren Lieberman.

Earlier this year Dr. Lauren Lieberman received a Fulbright Global Scholar Award to extend and introduce Camp Abilities across the world.

Dr. Lieberman is currently visiting the city of Accra where she successfully ran the first Camp Abilities Ghana program. Joining Dr. Lieberman were three SUNY students who are spending their fall 2019 semester studying at the University of Ghana through Brockport. Students were placed in a 1:1 or a small group setting with children with visual impairments to practice, learn, and play sports. Samantha, a junior majoring in environmental studies had the opportunity to teach yoga to 15 adolescents.

Dr. Lieberman will host a second camp on the University of Ghana's campus on September 14 and 15. Later this semester she will travel to Ireland to continue developing an existing program.
