Librada Paz: The Voice of Farmworkers' Rights
February 18, 2020 6:00 pm–7:00 pm
The American Democracy Project welcomes Librada Paz, recipient of the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Award and advocate for farmworker justice, on February 18, 2020.
Librada Paz was born in Oaxaca, Mexico and came to the United States as a teenager in search of a better life. She worked along the east coast picking fruits and vegetables and landed right here in Brockport. She attended Brockport High School and worked on the local farms at night and on weekends, where she learned firsthand about working conditions in the fields.
An RIT alumna and tireless advocate for the passage of New York State’s Farmworkers Fair Labor Practices Act, Paz will share her compelling story on Tuesday, February 18 at 6 pm in the Eagle's Lookout. All are welcome to attend.
