Associate Director of the Honors College Appointed

Dr. Pamela Beach (KSSPE) was appointed Associate Director of the Honors College

As Associate Director of the Honors College, Dr. Beach will work with Director Dr. Austin Busch in steering the mission of the college-wide academic program, which serves approximately 350 Honors students.

As a professor of motor behavior in the Department of Kinesiology, Sport Studies and Physical Education, where she has worked for the past 15 years, Dr. Beach has demonstrated a strong commitment to student research and engagement. She has been the coordinator for the kinesiology major since 2008 and has coordinated internships and research experiences for kinesiology majors. She is also the Director of the Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP) and a Co-Director of the Institute on Movement Studies for Individuals with Visual Impairments (IMSVI). Dr. Beach regularly publishes and presents nationally and internationally on her research in motor development and balance in individuals with sensory impairments. She has also published two editions of the undergraduate textbook Motor Learning and Development which has been widely adopted.

Dr. Beach is also a big proponent of global education, actively teaching Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) classes, including co-partnerships with the American University of Technology (Lebanon) and Hague University (Netherlands). She has led study abroad trips to the Dominican Republic, New Zealand, and is leading a Sport, Nutrition, and Leisure program in Australia this coming summer (details available by accessing the links below).

Dr. Beach has received accolades for her teaching and engagement including the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching (2018), the Academic Advisement Award (2011), the Roland Fontaine's Award for student engagement (2018), and Open SUNY Online Teaching Ambassador (2017). She was elected to serve on the American Kinesiology Association Board and is an active Brockport Lions Club member, recently awarded the Lions Membership Award (2018) and the Lions International Centennial Award (2019).
