Upgrade Windows 10 Before August 17, 2020 (Eligible Devices)
A new Microsoft Windows 10 upgrade process where you run the upgrade (while on campus) without turning your computer over to Brockport IT.
Microsoft has released an upgrade for its Windows 10 operating system. Brockport IT has reviewed and approved the upgrade, and it will be available to you in the Software Center application if your system is eligible.
In the next few weeks, you may begin to see reminders display when you log in to Windows. You will only be notified when your device is physically located, and logged on, within the campus network. Eligible devices will receive Brockport branded notifications that will display when logging on to the machine. They will continue to display at logon until the upgrade is completed. If your device is not eligible you will not receive these notifications.
The upgrade process can take between four – five hours to complete. You must have at least 20 GB of hard drive space available. During the upgrade the computer is unusable, so please plan accordingly for an end of day or weekend upgrade.
What’s in it for you:
• The computer stays at your desk – no longer needs to be taken by IT
• Your bookmarks, files, and shortcuts won’t disappear
• Safety and security of your content and system, as well as Brockport’s systems
• Continuous support from Microsoft and Brockport IT
