Mutli-Factor Authentication (MFA) Rollout to Students

Over the next few weeks, Brockport’s IT department will be rolling out a new feature called Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to students. MFA makes it easier to add additional security to your user account.

MFA makes it easier to add additional security to your user account. This means an extra verification step will be added when you log on to make sure that you are who you say you are. This is an important step in protecting your data, emails, and research.

MFA will be turned on for all students by the end of summer. At this time, it is only required for students to register. Registering allows students to add a safe and secure two-step verification method for their online credentials. There are a range of authentication options (such as phone call, text message, or mobile app notification) to access your Office 365 applications.

Please see the FAQ below for more information.

Keep an eye out for communications about the rollout of this feature to other members of the campus.
