Campus Vehicle Rental Program
We are transitioning to the use of Enterprise Rent-A-Car (under state contract) and personal vehicles, while eliminating the campus-owned rental vehicle fleet.
A rental fleet analysis team was convened in the summer of 2019 to review the rental car/van program operated by the college. This team’s goal was to make recommendations to President’s Cabinet on a sustainable model for the campus vehicle rental program.
After extensive research, the team recommended eliminating the campus-owned rental vehicle fleet and transitioning to the use of Enterprise Rent-A-Car (under state contract) and personal vehicles. Increased costs related to repairs, insurance, capital investment, administrative time, decaling, and other maintenance issues were cited by the analysis team and multiple other SUNY schools as support for this change. In addition to financial savings, this new model will allow campus mechanics to focus increased attention on other aging campus vehicles and equipment.
Fifteen-passenger vans for group use will be an exception and will continue to be available and reserved via the Facilities Service Center.
