College Communications Wins Three PRism Awards
Public Relations Society of America recognizes SUNY Brockport for excellence in communication.
SUNY Brockport's Office of College Communications took home three awards from the Public Relations Society of America Rochester Chapter's annual PRism Awards, which was broadcast on Facebook Live Thursday night due to COVID-19.
Brockport won a PRism, the top prize, in the not-for-profit newsletter category for The Port. This e-newsletter is published by College Communications and the Division of Advancement each month during the academic year and is led by Managing Editor Anna Loria. Judges made their evaluation based on three consecutive editions that were published in the fall semester. The Port has become the College's premiere story-telling mechanism, featuring outstanding feature writing, photography, and videography.
Digital Marketing Specialist Darcy Porter, the person behind SUNY Brockport's dynamic social media accounts, was honored with an award of excellence in the Bloggers category for her innovative "Brockport Influencers Program." Darcy partnered with key departments across campus to identify student social media influencers who then vlogged (video blogging) about their Brockport experience on Instagram. An example is linked below.
Videographer/Photographer Zach Lyman won an award of excellence in the online videos category for his look back at SUNY Brockport hosting the 1979 International Special Olympics. This mini-documentary allowed a new generation to experience the excitement and magic of one of the most significant events in College history. Watch the video in the link below.
Congratulations to Anna, Darcy, Zach and the rest of the team in College Communications and Advancement who work to create The Port.
