Joseph Makarewicz Endowed Award for Faculty Research Available
This endowment fund is available to provide support for early and mid-career faculty in the Department of Biology, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Environmental Science and Ecology, or Earth Sciences, for faculty to pursue scholarly activities.
This fund is managed and executed under the direction of the Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences. The application period is open-ended. All inquiries should be directed to the Dean's Office.
Eligibility and Criteria:
The tenure-track faculty member must:
1. Belong to the Department of Biology, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Environmental Science and Ecology, or Earth Sciences.
2. Have a clear and concise written plan to use the fund to engage in an activity that may generate data or otherwise increase the potential of the person to secure external funding. For example, a faculty member may use the fund to secure a course release to work on a project to generate preliminary data or he/she may use the fund to travel to a different university or national lab to learn a new technique.
3. Have a written plan to continue their scholarly pursuits that feature grantsmanship prominently.
